SOLD – Antique Eastlake Style Sideboard – Chest

SOLD- Antique Eastlake Style Sideboard Chest
A true antique with great vintage bones and simple but beautiful details. Most likely from the 1880s. *There is a hand-handwritten note inside one of the drawers that states –
“Bought by Ray Crosby 1936 at Durnell Sale in Sandpoint Rd. 60 years old at that time.”
This chest is all wood including the back, with a granite slab nestled between to hanky boxes.
Wood carved key holes are a rare find and this chest has five.
Refinished in a deep dark navy with dark brown wood stained drawers.
Its original condition was poor. It was desperate to be saved and updating it was a natural outcome of the process. This 150 year old chest shows its age in its design. It’s been refurbished and is very functional but it also has some age related condition issues. A drawers bottom is splat bit secure and covered with a heavy weight water resistant wall paper. The bottom drawer face has a slight bow yet the drawers closes.
All surfaces sealed for a hundred more years of use. The drawer interiors are painted sealed and lined.
***Also available are two antique mirror options for an additional fee. Both can be refinished upon request. Message me for photos.
